The MNA's Economic Development team strives to facilitate the development of positive working relationships and partnerships between the MNA and, its affiliates, the private sector and the governments of Alberta and Canada, for the furtherance of economic prosperity Metis people in Alberta, and sustainability of the MNA itself.
The goal of the MNA's Economic Development team is to:
Promote joint planning and action in the area of economic development between the Governments of Alberta and Canada and the Métis Nation of Alberta and its affiliates; and
Review, recommend and expedite changes in government policy, legislation and operations in the area of economic development to ensure sensitivity to the needs and interests of Alberta Métis.
In addition to executing an annual work plan that contains specific initiatives, the Economic Development team deals with other economic development issues such as analyzing proposals for joint ventures and other proposed commercial projects. As well, the Manger directs Métis entrepreneurs and would-be entrepreneurs to sources of business start-up & expansion funding, information & training; and represents the MNA at various economic development-related events.
